State Grid Chairman Zhang Zhigang Visits Huairou Laboratory

On August 14, 2024, Zhang Zhigang, Executive Chairman of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) visited Huairou Laboratory and engaged in discussions with Yu Yingjie, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Beijing Municipality, and Tang Guangfu, Director of Huairou Laboratory and Academician of the CAE. Their discussions focused on leveraging the advantages of the new-type nationwide research system, deepening the R&D of critical technologies, strengthening fundamental research, and promoting the application of scientific achievements. Chen Guoping, Executive Vice President of SGCC, relevant leaders from the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, and members of Huairou Laboratory's leadership team, attended the meeting.

Tang Guangfu provided a detailed overview of the construction of Huairou Laboratory. He emphasized that the Lab is committed to the new-type nationwide research system, focuses on the strategic needs of the national energy sector, conducts strategic, forward-looking, and fundamental scientific research, while innovating a new research mechanism that is goal-oriented and open to collaboration. Tang expressed his hopes to further solidify the existing cooperation between the two parties, jointly engage in research breakthroughs, and contribute to the development of next generation energy system.


Zhang Zhigang expressed his gratitude to Huairou Laboratory for its long-standing support to the work of SGCC. He stated that SGCC prioritizes technological innovation and has convened a science and technology work conference, established a new Science and Technology Advisory Board, implemented twelve key measures for technological innovation, and deepened reforms in systems and mechanisms to accelerate the achievement of high-level technological self-reliance. Zhang looks forward to further deepening cooperation with Huairou Laboratory in tackling critical technology challenges to produce more major, original, and groundbreaking technological achievements, thereby promoting deeper integration of the innovation chain and the industrial chain. He also emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in fundamental research to accelerate the development of national strategic scientific and technological capabilities and to enhance collaboration in transforming scientific achievements, thereby supporting the construction of next generation power system through technological innovation.


Yu Yingjie thanked SGCC for its long-term support for Huairou Laboratory and Beijing's work. He hoped that Huairou Laboratory and SGCC would further deepen their cooperation, strengthen collaborative innovation, leverage the Laboratory's institutional advantages and SGCC's industrial base and application scenario advantages, and focus on the deep integration of the innovation and industrial chains to accelerate breakthroughs in core technologies, promote the application of research outcomes, and better serve the implementation of major national strategies.


Key responsible persons of the relevant departments and units of both SGCC and Huairou Laboratory also participated in the meeting.
