Infrastructure Project for the Core Area of Huairou Laboratory Officially Kicking Off

In accordance with relevant construction and development plans approved by the central government, Beijing officially initiated the core area construction project of Huairou Laboratory (Phase II), to meet the office and experiment needs of the Laboratory's core R&D strength. The overall infrastructure plan for the core area was made by the Laboratory together with relevant departments of Beijing Municipality by organizing outstanding domestic planning and design experts, with a total area of more than 150 mu and a total construction area of approximately 300,000 square meters. The project aims to create a world-class space for technological R&D in the energy sector that can accommodate thousands of core R&D personnel and support the R&D needs of cutting-edge technologies. As such, the Laboratory will form world-class experimental capabilities in the fields of high power electronics, power semiconductor pilot tests, large-scale simulation calculations, etc.

The project, which has been officially approved and construction has officially kicked off in March 2022, is expected to be completed and put into use in 2025.
