Results of the "IGCT-based Hybrid Line Commutated Converter (LCC) Research and Product Development Project" Passing Scientific and Technological Identification

Recently, the scientific research results of the "IGCT-based Hybrid Line Commutated Converter (LCC) Research and Product Development Project", which was jointly conducted by Huairou Laboratory, Tsinghua University, Xi'an XD Power Systems Co., Ltd., State Grid Henan Electric Power Company, Xi'an Peri Power Semiconductor Converting Technology Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, Tsinghua University, have passed the scientific and technological identification of China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF). The evaluation committee, composed of six academicians and 19 experts, agreed that the project reached the international leading level in general, so it was recommended to accelerate its engineering application.
Adhering to the idea of "one generation of component for one generation of equipment", the project has proposed the new method of reverse blocking IGCT-based hybrid LCC for the common commutation failure problem in conventional DC transmission systems from the "new solution, new component and new equipment" dimension. The new IGCT-based device has bidirectional blocking capacity with breakthroughs in key technologies such as voltage equalization under series connection of hundred-level devices and high-reliability control and protection. The world's first hybrid LCC marks breakthroughs in DC power transmission technology.
Relevant heads and researchers from the Science and Technology Innovation Department, New Power System Research Center, and New Commutation Technology Research Institute of Huairou Laboratory attended the meeting.
