International Academic Exchange on "Carbon Dioxide Hydrate Storage" Successfully Held

Release Time:2024-04-30

On April 26, 2024, the laboratory invited Professor Bjørn Kvamme, director of the Hydrate Laboratory at the University of Bergen in Norway and vice-chairman of the World Conference on Natural Gas Hydrate Research and Development, to conduct an academic exchange. During the meeting, Professor Kvamme shared his over 30 years of research experience in hydrate chemical thermodynamics, discussing the basic principles and optimization measures of using CO2 to displace natural gas hydrates for marine carbon storage from a thermodynamic perspective. He also introduced and evaluated the research achievements on CO2 replacing natural gas hydrates in the Black Sea region of Europe.

During the meeting, participants asked questions and engaged in in-depth discussions following Professor Kvamme's presentation. Mr. Kvamme answered each question in detail, profoundly inspiring the participants' thinking on using CO2 to displace natural gas hydrates for marine carbon storage. This exchange broadened the participants' horizons and provided further insight into the current international research status and progress in marine carbon storage.
