Director Tang Guangfu Meets with Prof. Astrid Lambrecht, Chair of the Board of Directors of Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany

On the morning of January 13, Tang Guangfu, Director of the Huairou Laboratory and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, hosted a delegation led by Prof. Astrid Lambrecht, Vice President of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres (Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft Deutscher Forschungszentren) and Chair of the Board of Directors of Forschungszentrum Jülich. The two sides held in-depth discussions on global challenges such as energy research and the energy transition, as well as future cooperation opportunities.
During the meeting, Director Tang, on behalf of the Huairou Laboratory, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Forschungszentrum Jülich. Laboratory representatives briefed the guests on the progress of the laboratory’s development and its strategic plans for the energy sector. Director Tang noted that Forschungszentrum Jülich’s application of artificial intelligence to empower scientific research is highly impressive. He expressed hope that both sides would strengthen communication and explore collaborative opportunities in areas such as academic exchange and reciprocal visits.
Prof. Lambrecht sincerely thanked the Huairou Laboratory for its warm hospitality and spoke highly of the laboratory’s research capabilities, as well as the speed and quality of its research platform construction. She stated that as a German national laboratory dedicated to energy and climate change, Forschungszentrum Jülich is actively advancing relevant research and collaborative projects with upstream and downstream partners to support Germany and Europe in achieving carbon reduction targets, including the phase-out of coal-fired power generation by 2030. She expressed hope that both sides would maintain contact to further facilitate exchanges, visits, and academic seminars, thereby establishing a partnership based on mutual trust.
The meeting was attended by Dr. He Hong, Chief Representative in China of the Helmholtz Association; Hendrik Fuchs, Deputy Director of the Institute of Climate and Energy Systems at Forschungszentrum Jülich; members of the Huairou Laboratory leadership team; heads of relevant departments and units; and representatives of the research teams.
